Urban Dense Forests in Minimal Time and Space

We develop ultra-fast-growing, dense, native forests in small urban spaces, including government institutions, industrial zones, corporate and IT parks, and abandoned areas. Using the Miyawaki method, these forests grow 10 times faster, are 30 times denser, and 100 times more biodiverse than monoculture plantations.

Annapradokshana, founded in 2016, is committed to protecting the environment and restoring nature, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our initiatives include tree plantation, urban biodiversity conservation, water body restoration, farmer revitalization projects, skill development, and women empowerment programs. The Akira Miyawaki Method

The Akira Miyawaki Method, developed by Japanese botanist Dr. Akira Miyawaki, involves planting 3-5 saplings per square meter with a variety of 20-50 different species to create a multi-layered green forest. These forests require no maintenance after the initial 2-3 years.

At Green Shadows, we implement this method by planting native Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest species, carefully selecting around 30 well-performing species after surveying the surroundings. We create dense forest patches in small urban spaces, focusing on achieving an 80% survival rate for the trees planted. In a five-square-foot area, we plant a combination of three species—a canopy tree, a small tree, and a shrub—forming a three to five-layered forest. This layered approach ensures better sunlight exposure and higher survival rates. Our goal is to establish native tree species patches across India, contributing to a sustainable environment.
